The Event (s01ep05): Casualties of War
| Recap soon, for now some thoughts:
Despite it’s plotholes and strange tv logic, I actually quite enjoy this show as a guilty pleasure. This week though we got some more background on the characters. I found the arguments between President Martinez and his wife on what to do with the detainees to be pretty interesting.
There were lots of tidbits of information about the detainees that were dropped this week, too. I took note of them: they’ve been waiting for technology to develop far enough to get home, they advanced nuclear fission in months instead of years through the Manhattan Project, and also note that “this country is at war”. Not sure if all this gives credence to the their ‘from the future’ or ‘from another planet’ theories, but it’s interesting to note.
Hm, alien sickness.
Ouch, Thomas thinks President Martinez will cave. Nice scene between Martinez and his wife, character development. Ha, Martinez is becoming more badass each episode. Sterling is the devil on his shoulder.
Yay, Sofia. “I don’t care if I have to spend another 66 years in this prison.”
Vicky: I have orders and I have no choice but to follow them.
Leila: Even if it means killing innocent people. It’s that simple for you?
Aaw, so the boy we met is not Vicki’s, but instead she just couldn’t kill him. Damn, Vicki surprisingly let Sean and Leila go. Uh oh, one of the agents survived. Oh, he’s now their hostage.
Hm. sofia for the antidote? “But i hope to earn both.” Ugh, cliffhanger on a train. |

No Ordinary Family (s01ep04): No Ordinary Vigilante
Recap soon, for now some thoughts:
George: I’m just trying to protect your identity. If enough people say they got busted by Mr. Clean it’s just a matter…
Jim: Okay. I’m bald. I get it.
George: How’s it looking out there?
Jim: A hell of a lot different than it looks in the day.
George: Yeah, welcome to Franklin Park. The only place in the city you can get poison ivy, crack, and sexually assaulted all at the same time.
He leaves him in a wheelchair with a note around his neck saying:
“Save me then arrest me. I mugged a lady in Franklin Park.”
That annoying teacher of JJ’s is still around? And he gets more annoying each week.
JJ’s combination of math and football is pretty cool. I look forward to seeing this new part of his power more often. Are there not height and weight requirements for playing football?
We find out the same new DNA in them is also in the plant Stephanie’s been studying.
Cordero: You notice anything weird about this sketch, Powell?
Jim: I, uh… Forgot to autograph it?
Cordero: No. When I close my eyes and I squint, I think that the guy in this sketch looks a little bit like… you.

Stargate Universe (s02e04): Pathogen
Matt: You-you and me, our relationship. I mean, if we’d met in a different situation away from the ship, would we still be together?
Chloe: Of course.
Matt: It’s just … this is all kinda new to me, you know? I’ve never been, like, great at relationships and … I just wanna make sure that I don’t mess this up. You’ve been kinda quiet lately, so I start wondering, thinking, “God, she’s …”
Chloe: Matt.
Chloe’s been kind of pushed to the background so far this season. I know a lot of people don’t care for her, but I liked seeing an episode mostly focused on her ongoing changes from her abduction by the aliens. Things quickly go from concern to, with Rush’s help of course, alarm as Chloe keeps zoning out and finding herself in different parts of the ship.
I also have a soft spot for her relationship with Matt. They’re like the only actual couple on the ship. He really seems to care about her, whereas usually it’s the guy who’s the flake. I’m not sure if it’s because she has more on her mind, but Chloe’s agreement that they’d still be together even if they were back on earth didn’t seem honest. I wish their relationship was more solid.
Sharon: I look at you and … I know it’s you but still … I miss your face … your voice.
Wray: This is hard – probably worse on you than it is for me. This situation – it’s so easy to lose hope. I’ve seen it in others. But what keeps me sane are these few moments we’re together, being able to come home and see you and hold you. Even if it’s just for a day or a minute, it’s what’s keeping me going.
The last time we saw the stones used a lot season in episode ‘Life’, I thought the episode was so boring. I’m not sure what changed, maybe cutting back to the ship more, but following Eli and Camille on Earth didn’t bother me. I like that the show so subtly shows a gay relationship as if were it any other one, and the love and affection between Camille and Sharon.
I’m glad Eli finally got his happy ending with his mother and she can now find peace in knowing her son is out in space somewhere doing great things. Really, sometimes seeing is believing. At first I thought they were going to show his mother the Stargate, but showing her inside Destiny and Eli himself was much more amazing. It was so nice of Camille to help him out with that. They’re really turning into a family aboard that ship.
Gloria: Do you really think she can help you?
Rush: I do, yes. If she values her freedom, she’ll play along without telling anyone. I need it to be this way – for now, anyway.
Gloria: But can you trust her?
Except for Rush, who just gets more and more frustrating. He’s the conflict on the ship, and really there’s the Lucian Alliance guy who’s the enemy without, and Rush is the enemy within. They’ve already lost two lives to his decisions, and now just as people start to suspect him going missing a lot, he pins their Destiny jumping in and out of FTL problems on Chloe.
It’s interesting Rush confides in her a bit and shows her his equation room. But you have to wonder if he did that more for his own sake so she’d solve his equation, than to give her peace of mind that he’s going through the same things. He’s a suave manipulator, and still able to keep his real whereabouts from the crew. And god, that chair he put Chloe in with the lie he was curing her is f’in creepy. Was he trying to get her to fuse with Destiny? |

Caprica (s01ep12): Things We Lock Away
| I love seeing the sword fights in the premiere and this episode. Another thing I love the badassness of Zoe vs. Tamara we got. When the series started we all thought Zoe would be in charge, but Tamara is sure badass on her own in controlling V-world and getting everyone to rise up against Zoe. Still, I’m excited to see them work together now that Zoe has gotten through to her.
Speaking of Zoe, I love that we see she was the one who created the original designs for the Cylons and then Daniel built them. And then she went one step further and built her own Avatar. She really is kind of a genius. Also, there’s flashbacks Zoe-A has of when she was a little girl of herself grown up. I’m not sure what all of this means, but maybe someone better versed in the fandom can clue me in.
It was also nice to see Amanda have a storyline now and get further into spying on Clarice. She’s getting better and better at working her way in under the guise of finding her daughter’s murderer. When will everyone find out who really blew up the train?
Daniel goes one step further down this week as his betrayals and blackmails come back to bit him. Yes, he gets his company back, but at what cost? One guy already committed suicide, and now Vergis stabs himself while Daniel is holding the knife. Blood all over the floor and Daniel takes another drink. This is not good.
Lacy didn’t have as much to do this week, seeing as Barnabus is now out of the picture. First she’s locked away until she tells Clarice all about Zoe. And now Clarice wants to take her off world to Gemenon to train to be a member of STO? That could be pretty badass if she turns out like Clarice herself, but please don’t let Lacy leave us. She must get out of this somehow. |

The Vampire Diaries (s02ep06): Plan B
Last season I felt like I was the only one fangirling this show, but I’m glad to see a bunch of people have joined the ranks. The response this week in particular was amazing. Seems everyone really loved this episode, even TWOP gave it an A+. Makes me so happy.
Bonnie: Damon, I am not gonna help you hurt him.
Damon: Mason Lockwood is a werewolf, Katherine is evil; they are the bad guys. Really? You’re gonna play morality police with me right now? Lemme put it to you another way: they are a threat to Elena so you, witch, are gonna get over yourself and help us.
Stefan: Yeah, he meant that as a question with a “please” in the end.
Damon: Absolutely.
I didn’t have a big love, just an average like, for Mason, so I’ll miss his character, but I’m not disheartened by his death. Not like say I was for Vicki or Anna before him. I just really wasn’t expecting it this week after all the talk about someone dying next week. And was Mason’s death really necessary, Damon?
I’m more upset in the way Mason was tortuted with wolfsbane and died by Damon ripping out his heart. All while Jeremy watched, and Bonnie even helped to lure Mason in by pretending to be a damsel in distress. Everyone had a hand to play in Mason’s death, and I think it’ll have repercussions later.
There are parts of Bonnie I like and parts I don’t. I respect her as a strong female character who stands for what she believes in. At the same time her beliefs can get annoying. And her thinking it was Elena with Mason? Don’t understand that. She’s already met Katherine, yeah?
Caroline: So I pulled Stefan out of this well, and he’s all vervained and just rotted. But Bonnie wasn’t mean to me once, and I just, I really think it’s progress, you know? I just— What? I’m freaking you out.
Liz: It’s just that you’ve become this person
Caroline: Don’t. I… I’m just starting to get along.
Liz: This strong, this confident person.
Caroline: Oh. Thank you.
Coraline was awesome again this week. She’s almost a better, stronger person as a vampire than a human. From saving Stefan when he gets trapped in a well filled with vervain while trying to retrieve the moonstone. To being as cute as ever while forging a relationship with her mother as a vampire. And finally, being selfless enough to then erase her mother’s memories of said bonding, just for the safety of everyone else.
Liz: You don’t have to take my memories away. I’ll keep your secret. Look, if you’re worried about them, just say you compelled me. I won’t tell. I’ll never do anything to hurt you.
Caroline: We never talked like this. Ever. And today meant so much to me.
Liz: Me, too.
Caroline: I know. I know I can trust you. But you’re never going to trust them. I’m going to take you home. You’re going to forget that I’m a vampire.
Liz: I’m going to forget that you’re a vampire.
Caroline: You’ll remember you got sick with the flu. You had a fever. Chills, and…Ickiness. And I made you soup. And it was really salty. And we bickered. You got better. And then your selfish little daughter Who loves you no matter what went right back to ignoring you. And all is right in the world.
I loved that she found closure with her mother before having to erase her memories. But it was all bittersweet. I feel so bad for her, but I think she did the right thing. It’s so hard, because Elena thought she did the right thing with Jeremy last season. But at least this way her mom won’t know things she shouldn’t.
Katherine: Mason. You should have been here an hour ago.
Damon: Wrong boy toy.
Katherine: Damon. For once you’ve surprised me. I assume Mason’s with you.
Damon: He’s right beside me. Although his heart’s across the room.
Katherine: You shouldn’t have.
Damon: I’ve had a very busy day today. Killed a werewolf, found a moon stone. Hey, did you know that he hid the moonstone in a bottom of a well full of vervain? Guess he didn’t trust you very much. He did love you. Poor guy. Hey, where are you, ’cause, you know, I could bring him over. Last good-byes and all that.
Katherine: You have no idea what you’ve just done.
Damon: Aww, did I put a kink in your master plan? I’m so sorry.
Katherine: Do you honestly believe that I don’t have a plan B? And if that fails, a plan C? Then a plan D, and…you know how the alphabet works, don’t you? Send my love to Stefan.
Oh, Nina Dobrev. You are amazing. So sweet and bubbly as Elena. So evil and sinister as Katherine. I just love to hate her. She definitely is a HBIC and always one up on everyone. It’s kind of amazing to watch seeing as the good guys always think they’re winning. Not sure if Katherine really cared about Mason, but she did seem hurt by his death. I wonder if she fed him blood like Stefan and Damon before him?
Stefan: You’re staring.
Elena: I’m gazing.
Stefan: It’s creepy.
Elena: It’s romantic.
Yes, I’m a Stefan/Elena fan, and I don’t ever see that changing. They were too cute in the beginning as they goofed around in bed. Happier times though I’m afraid, because the show later ripped my heart out. And seems no one, including me, was able to resist the power of Stefan’s chin quiver as Elena broke up with him for the greater good.
Stefan: I’m so sorry.
Elena: We were stupid. Sneaking around, thinking that we weren’t going to get caught.
Stefan: I know.
Elena: We did this. Stefan, Jenna’s in the hospital, and Jeremy could be next all because, because we didn’t listen to her. Because we’re together. Stefan…
Stefan: I know what you’re going to say to me.
Elena: Then let me say it. I’ve been so selfish because I love you so much, and I know how much you love me…but it’s over.
Stefan: *shakes head with tears in his eyes*
Elena: Stefan, it has to be.
Stefan: Elena, I don’t…
Elena: No, Stefan…it has to be.
OMG, his expression, their tears, his chin quiver. Heartbreaking. Paul Wesley for MVP this week. I know it’s acting, but it makes me wonder how he/they were able to pull off that scene. But fret not Stefan/Elena fans, I still have hope for this couple. Katherine is in their way right now, but she be can’t around forever. Well, you know what I mean…
Damon: I riled Katherine up. I wasn’t thinking. I didn’t think.
Elena: It doesn’t matter, Damon. She won, Katherine won.
She really really did. I knew Katherine was up to something when she was MIA in previous episodes. I kind of saw her compelling and causing Jenna to gut herself coming. I had flashbacks of the X-Files episode ‘Kitsunegari’ going on when Jenna answered the phone. And then there’s Matt being compelled to go after Tyler just so Katherine can get another werewolf. There’s a death coming, but I find it too easy to assume it’ll be him. Or maybe that’s the point.
Judging by the preview for next week, Elena is about to get single white femaled at the masquerade ball. Ugh, it makes me ill. There’s enough of that going on with Alt!Olivia on Fringe. First there’s two dopplegangers on my Thursday night lineup, and now they’re both being SWF. |

Nikita (s01e06): Resistance
This week’s episode was the best yet, and had me on the edge of the seat. Between Caprica, Vampire Diaries, and Nikita this was an awesome tv birthday present to me.
Percy: When I doubt your loyalty to Division Michael you will know. The only time I’ve ever even questioned it was during your relationship with Nikita.
Michael: What relationship?
On the one hand we get Percy and Amanda getting really suspicious of Michael’s relationship with Alex, and wondering if it’s going to be another Nikita. They then order a training operation to prove their point where Alex is supposedly kidnapped and held hostage. Just goes to show how cold and calculating are Percy and Amanda, and how Michael really doesn’t fit in with them.
Michael: Look, we’ll make this right, ok? I’m not going to let them do anything to you, I’m not going to let anything happen to you. I’m not going to lose you too.
I’m starting to believe I’m really more of a Michael and Alex fan rather than Michael and Nikita. I loved their touching moments in this episode and his concern for her undergoing torture. I think his interest and concern comes more from his past with Nikita and his good nature, but I still loved it. Jury’s still up on what his plan was with Alex and whether he really knew he was the one being tested rather than Alex.
Birkhoff: Wait, she just killed Amir. He’s dead. Like for real.
Alex is kick ass again this week as she escapes from Division’s secret training op, kills a guy, and manages to almost make it back to Nikita. I literally clapped when they realized she’d one upped their plan and managed to escape and shoot their operative. Plus, the concern she had for Thom was very touching.
Then, there’s also the awesome flashbacks where we learn Nikita was the one who saved Alex when her parents were killed. I feel more connected to Nikita in her flashbacks then I do in the present, so I really look forward to seeing her past with Alex.
Nikita [to Owen]: I made the same mistake you did. The best mistake of my life.
I’m so glad Owen didn’t kill himself. I like his character and hope he comes back often to help Nikita with her mission. Plus, he’s the only one who can best her in a fight. Also, now that we know he was ‘repear’, an in-house ‘cleaner’ as in he killed Nikita’s fiance, there’s a lot more emotional drama to be had between him and Nikita. |
