Netflix Orders ‘Full House’ Sequel ‘Fuller House’

Everywhere you look, everywhere you go, there’s a… former TV show coming back to life. Netflix has ordered a 13-episode revival of ’90s sitcom Full House, titled Fuller House. Candace Cameron-Bure, Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber will return as D.J. Tanner-Fuller, Stephanie Tanner and Kimmy Gibbler, while John Stamos is set to guest-star as Uncle Jesse. Discussions with other original cast members are still ongoing. In the new series, D.J. is now a pregnant and recently widowed veterinarian living in San Francisco, so her younger sister, aspiring musician Stephanie, and lifelong friend, fellow single mom Kimmy, along with teenage daughter Ramona, move in to help take care of D.J.’s boys — rebellious 12-year-old J.D. and neurotic 7-year-old Max — and her soon-to-arrive baby. The new series will debut in 2016. [Zap2it]

JK Simmons to Lead Starz Drama ‘Counterpart’

Coming off his Oscar win for Whiplash, JK Simmons has landed the lead role in Starz’s new sci-fi drama Counterpart. Written and created by Justin Marks, the thriller follows Howard Silk (Simmons), a lowly cog in a bureaucratic UN agency who is turning the last corner of a life filled with regret, when he discovers the agency he works for is guarding a secret: a crossing to a parallel dimension. Imitation Game director Morten Tyldum will helm the first two episodes, which explore the themes of identity, idealism, what ifs, and lost love.
