Review: The worst betrayals always come from the ones we trust the most.
New ABC series Revenge really doesn’t miss a beat. The show continues to not disappoint for its second week in a row. Frankly, I think it’s because the show’s able to combine such a delicious amount of mystery, romance, friendship, and, oh yeah, revenge into each hour.
This week Emily Thorne tackles the idea of “Trust”. Who can you trust? How much can you trust them? How can that trust then be used for good? And, more importantly for her, how can it be used for bad? (more…)
Review: We could always buy one and share. …Like forever?
If you watched the preview for this week’s Ringer and caught that split second shot of Gemma slapping Bridget, then you probably spent the entire episode on pills and needles like I did. Well, it happened, and it wasn’t pretty. But first, let’s talk about how all the drama even got to that point.
For most people birthdays are a happy time, which means for estranged twins Siobhan and Bridget, they’re undoubtedly laced with pain. “It’s Gonna Kill Me, But I’ll Do It” was very much about the love and hate relationship between the two sisters. (more…)
Review: Let’s just say you can’t run from your past.
No matter how well you may think you know someone, you can never really be sure what’s going on in their head. And that’s even more true on The Lying Game where lies are expected and everyone has a secret they’re trying to keep.
So what happens in “Never Have I Ever” when Emma tries to keep her surprise guest a secret from Thayer and Ethan, and the teens decide to play an innocent little game of truth with alcohol? Nothing good, I’m sure. (more…)
Review: Why did you take his head, did you miss him?
In crime solving, as with anything in life, sometimes things go smoothly, but more often than not they don’t go according to plan. That’s why you have to learn to accept the speed bumps and keep trying like Castle and the gang do with every case.
That lesson’s especially true this week in “Head Case” when there’s a murder with a lot of blood and a body they have to get back piece by piece. Meanwhile, Alexis must learn to pick herself up and move on after her plans for the future fall through. (more…)
Review: It is my privilege to welcome you home!
It’s actually quite coincidental that today I watched clips from The X-Files and reminisced about a time of faster-paced television because Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, who worked on the show and later 24, just premiered their new series, Homeland.
For those who have seen those other two series, this “Pilot” was a ride through familiar territory of politics, conspiracies, and the like. And while Homeland won’t ever be The X-Files (it’s just not wired that way), it’s definitely damn good and a breath of fresh air in our current TV landscape. (more…)
Review: I need to erase someone from time.
By now, I’m sure you know that Fringe has returned and so have all our favorite characters from both universes: Olivia (times two!), Walter, Astrid, and my personal favorite, Lincoln Lee. But something isn’t quite right this season… Something is so obviously missing.
The last time we tuned in, Peter had disappeared into oblivion and left a hole in everyone’s lives. (If you watch “Neither Here Nor There,” then you’ll know you don’t get by without hearing about this once or twice.) So where is Peter Bishop now? Well, that’s what we’re here to find out. (more…)
