Review: Maybe we can get a dog instead?
A large part of Andrew’s renewed relationship with his wife Siobhan on Ringer has hinged on her being newly pregnant with their baby. Only we all know Siobhan is actually Bridget, and the existence of a baby is just another lie in her series of lies.
So it’s been an important question since the series premiere: How was Bridget going to get away with not actually being pregnant? In an episode titled “Maybe We Can Get a Dog Instead?”, it’s not hard to figure out what the writers decided to do. (more…)
Review: God has given you one face, and you make yourself another.
For the first four episodes, Revenge masqueraded itself as just another procedural, but one where Emily Thorne judged her victims instead of saving them. Then the disguise was removed, and suddenly we found ourselves watching a very different show.
The series has since traded in its revenge-of-the-week format for an increasingly complicated story arc. Gone are the days when Emily could simply while away the hours plotting out her revenge. Now she’s lucky if she can still keep up her “Charade”. (more…)
Review: Can’t we just do normal stuff, that normal people do, like go to brunch?
Two of the biggest challenges a show can face are the loss of a main character and changes to the original premise. Separately, each have the potential of bringing down even the best series, and together, well, they could mean disaster for Misfits.
Which is why the combined exit of Nathan, end to community service, and replacement of their powers had me worried about the show’s future. So how did the third season premiere fare with all the odds against it? I think it’s going to do just fine. (more…)
Review: Who are you?
They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, but I feel like I need to tell you guys the truth: I haven’t really missed Peter all that much this season on Fringe while he’s been MIA. At least, not in the same way as last year when we were all anxious to see Olivia brought back to our world.
And to make it even worse, I think the writers botched what could have been a great episode with “Subject 9″. I can’t believe they tried to make us guess whether Peter had returned or not when we already knew the truth. Oh well, what’s done is done, and there’s finally an all new episode tonight! (more…)
Review: It’s times like this I pity the normals. They would never be this cool.
There’s no other show better prepared for a Halloween episode, than one that already focuses on witches and magic. But that’s not why this week’s episode of The Secret Circle is kind of my favorite so far.
No, that’s because we’re finally getting into some serious mythology. In “Masked”, Faye decides there’s been too much doom and gloom lately and convinces Cassie to throw a party, only to have some witch hunters use it to target the Circle. (more…)
Review: When I kill someone, they’re supposed to stay dead.
Over the course of The Vampire Diaries, we’ve been introduced to so many new and interesting characters that we either loved to hate or just plain outright loved. Of course, no one’s ever safe on this show, and many of those weren’t able to stick around.
But with vampires, witches, and werewolves already roaming around Mystic Falls, it wasn’t long before ghosts were allowed to enter the mix. This week’s episode is called “Ghost World”, but I like to think of it as a love letter from the writers to the fans. (more…)
