Review: Sometimes you have to sacrifice a pawn to motivate your knights.

There’s this rule in the television world that a couple can only be happy for so long before something or someone needs to come around and muck it up. This week on Nikita we get to meet that someone in the form of a woman from Michael’s past.

It’s sad because while Nikita and Michael have made it their sole mission to fight the wrongs of the past, as they glance back through the “Looking Glass”, it seems those sins aren’t content to let them be free. (more…)

Review: The ceremony binds you to each others’ bloodlines.

One horrible split decision last week on The Secret Circle had the possibility of changing everyone’s lives forever, so you’d think this week we’d be experiencing the repercussions of that action. We do a little, but mostly I feel like it’s all just setup for what’s to come.

In “Wake” we see just what you’d expect, a wake for their fallen member of the circle who was killed last week. But what we also see is how quickly new character Jake has come in to derail the witches grief and take the missing member’s spot in the limelight. (more…)

Review: I know who you really are better than anyone. I am not giving up.

If there’s one thing Elena’s never been, it’s a weakling. In The Vampire Diaries, she’s gone up against vampires and werewolves, refused compulsion even when it could help her forget bad memories, and been willing to sacrifice herself for her friends time and again.

So while there’s a lot to like about “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, from seeing more of Rebekah to the return of quite a few ghosts, it’s actually Elena’s new vocation that has me most excited: Bad-Ass Monster Fighter. Yes, Elena’s channeling her inner Buffy and Warrior Princess this week. I couldn’t be more proud. (more…)

Review: In the end, the guilty always fall.

Ever since Emily Thorne moved into the Hamptons, all events in Revenge have gone according to her master plan, though it’s still unclear exactly what that plan entails. There hasn’t been any real problems, nobody’s figured out her secret, and no one’s had to die. That is, until now.

This week everyone’s “Guilt” is on display, and it’s making them all behave irrationally with surprising results. The question is who will be strong enough to understand and feed off their own guilt, and who will let it consume and eat them alive instead?  (more…)

Review: Trust me when I say to you that I will not rest until I make you carry it too.

An episode of Castle that has a more serious tone, allows Ryan a chance to shine, and shows the team coming together to protect one of their own is already going to get plenty of kudos from me. But then, there’s also mention of the 3XK killer? Oh, it’s on.

So it shouldn’t be too surprising that “Kick the Ballistics” is my favorite episode of the season thus far. It’s a case that at first appears to be just a routine killing, but matters then take a spin for the worse once Ryan’s old gun is determined to be the murder weapon. (more…)

Radar Watch: Misfits returns, HBO’s China Doll, Whedon’s newest project, and more!

Whatcha talkin’ ’bout?

We’ve been waiting for almost a year, and now the news is out: The British series Misfits will return to E4 on October 30th at 10pm for its third season, and I couldn’t be more excited. [E4]

But wait, there’s more: Josh Schwartz (Gossip Girl, Chuck) is teaming up with Misfits creator Howard Overman to write a U.S. version for the hit series. I’m always open to a new adaptation, but I worry it’ll have to really be changed in order to air stateside. [Vulture] (more…)
