Review: A is being our ultimate frenemy…
Was that really an episode of Pretty Little Liars? Because it felt like a completely different show. It was emotional, intense, and surprising, just to name a few of my feelings while watching. But I’m hesitant to say anything more upfront, so I’m going to head into the review.
The mid-season finale, “Over My Dead Body,” was what we call a game-changer. Since the series started, ‘A’ has blackmailed the girls and gotten them to do his/her bidding time and again. Well, just as the liars decide they’ve had enough, ‘A’ blackmails them with the biggest thing of all – a life. (more…)
Review: Could you please move your stick? There are people trying to get past you.
It was one thing when ‘A’ was just harassing four teenage girls. Or when ‘A’ killed Jason, who everyone thought was a murderer anyway, and made it look like a suicide. But with a great blend of mystery and suspense this week, things just got a little more real on Pretty Little Liars.
In “I Must Confess,” Emily has reached her limit with ‘A,’ and they all decide to tell their therapist everything, albeit with dangerous consequences. The doctor may now be out as a result, but A is most definitely on her way back in. (more…)
Review: You wouldn’t know a threat if it sat in your lap and made you a gin and tonic.
Season two of Pretty Little Liars has so far been a little on the slow side. Too much talking and external storylines, and not enough ‘A’ shenanigans and crime-solving. But with these last few episodes, I feel like we’re finally ramping up to an exciting midseason finale.
Which is why, I think this week’s “Touched by an ‘A’-ngel” could be the best episode we’ve seen yet this season. ‘A’ gets personal with one of the liars. Spencer finds a new lead as to the mystery between Ian, Jason, and Garrett. And Aria finally gets rid of that Jason vs. Ezra triangle. I hope. (more…)
Review: My goosebumps are getting goosebumps.
For the past few weeks, TPTB of Pretty Little Liars have been hinting that something big would be going down this week between one of the main couples. Well, it all turned out to be just a big tease for an episode with no new reveals and nothing going on underneath. Which, as we learn, is the exact opposite of Jason.
This week in “Picture This,” Aria can’t seem to get Jason out of her mind. Neither can we. And neither can Spencer and Emily as they decide to sneak into his shed to see what he’s been hiding all this time. It isn’t pretty.
Review: ‘A’ is taking us down, one at a time.
A’ really isn’t getting any nicer. First, she ran over Hanna with a car last season. And this season’s she been stepping up her ‘A’-game each week and targeting the girls one by one. It’s no longer about making their lives miserable, but making them a living hell. Which one of the Pretty Little Liars will break first?
In “Save the Date,” one of the liars ends up in the hospital, giving the other two a chance to peruse the local morgue records and find out how Allison died once and for all. (more…)
Review: Is this a gay thing?
Finally, “Surface Tension” is a Pretty Little Liars episode with some actual plot movement. I was starting to wonder if the show had lost its mojo.
Thankfully, this week brought us quite a few developments in a lot of different departments: Emily moves in with Hanna and her mom for the sleepover that never ends. Aria’s mother suspiciously invites both Ezra and Jason for dinner, leaving both guys to square off. And Spencer always get the worst as a new clue turns up directly in her backyard. There’s plenty of tension to go around, don’t you think? (more…)
