Twitter’s trending topics agrees with me by listing this movie as the No. 1 most popular movie of 2010. Well, I’m hardly ever one to be an exception… From the mystery surrounding the plot, the perplexing visuals of buildings and streets folding in on each other, to the variety in the cast and characters – I was in. Then, I just had to wait til I came back from summer vacation and see it a week after everyone else. It’s not often these days that we get graced with an innovative new concept, and that’s what made this movie all the more exciting.

Yes, Robert Pattinson. For me this movie goes beyond that one simple fact everyone likes to focus on. I read the script for this movie just as it started filming, and fell in love with the concept. The idea that everything has a purpose and everyone’s life matters is something that has always intrigued me. Then, there’s the emotional ride of following this one guy, who’s already experienced his own sadness in life,  in his relationship with his sister, friend, girlfriend, and father and how he touches their lives. Tyler isn’t afraid to stand up for what he believes in, and I think there needs to be more people like him in the world.

The first Twilight movie is still my favorite, but I think this one is much better cinematically than either of the two before it. And we have David Slade (Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night) and his visual style to thank for it. Then, there’s the fact this was my favorite book of the series anyway. We see the conclusion to the threat of Victoria, the culmunation of the Edward/Bella/Jacob triangle, the acceptance of the marriage proposal, and the threat of the Volturi looming overhead.

I rewatched all the Harry Potter movies leading up to this one, so I can say this with certainty: this is by far the best or at least my favorite of them all. Finally, we get to put away that lighthearted feel that should have ended around Goblet of Fire and get to some serious business. Yes, it’s supposedly a children’s book series, but the fact it deals with mature subject matter lends itself to this new mood. Also, the acting is the best we’ve seen so far. The cinematography and camera work is amazing. Only problem, now we have to wait til July for the next part…and the end.

I’ve loved Toy Story since the first one was released so long ago. (Ok, really I just love the little green aliens and will follow them wherever they go.) Seriously though, after waiting 10 years for this newest installment I know we’d all thought there’s no way it could be as good. I’m happy to say it’s just as good as all the others. (There’s only three lone dissenters on Rotten Tomatoes keeping it from getting another 100%.) Everyone I know, man, woman, and child alike, were affected by this movie and admitted they cried. Now that’s the sign of a great movie.

Entertainment Weekly placed the show at #3 of Top Dramas of 2010 and calls it "addictive and involving television that deserves to be taken more seriously by critics everywhere." Plot twists, cliffhangers, and unrelentingly fast-paced storytelling make this show once again everyone’s favorite. In this year we got the back half of season 1 complete with Stefan’s blood lust arc, tons of flashback backstory, and the surprising return of Elena’s doppelganger, Katherine.

Thankfully there was no sophomore slump for this show. In season two, the introduction of a whole new arc has everyone stepping up their game. We’ve gotten to see the amazing portrayal of Nina Dobrev as both Katherine and Elena (sometimes at the same time), and the secondary characters getting a lot more game play: Bonnie becoming a powerful witch, Caroline turning into a confident bloodsucker, and tortured Tyler having to deal with his werewolf curse. Things are never boring in Mystic Falls.

Awards: Won the 2010 BAFTA Award for Best Drama Series. Nominated for Best Drama Series and Drama Writer in RTS Awards, three noms in 2011 Broadcast Awards, and seven noms in SFX SciFi Awards.

I just caught up with this show around Thanksgiving after hearing a lot of chatter about the game changing episode 3 of this season. And judging by how many people I’ve heard just started watching, I think that episode alone probably doubled the show’s viewership. This show is beautiful, crass, funny, dark, emotional, and chilling. It’s everything wrapped into a nice package, and tied with a pretty little bow on top.

First season was good, but too MOTW for my tastes. Second season introduced a whole new depth of mythology with the other side, the Observers, the truth about Olivia and Peter, etc. And now the third season has a beautiful mixture of the two. The gang are still investigating cases each week, but now we get to see them have repercussions on the overall mythology. I feel like somewhere around season 2, Fringe has finally reached it’s potential and become it’s own force. I can’t wait for the rest.

I was so disappointed by the movie, and didn’t hear about this show until after the first episode had aired in England. I’m so glad all of you recced it to me, because now I love it. The characters are so beautiful drawn, London is so fully realized, the mysteries and deducing are so interesting, the dialogue is so witty and amusing, and the actors are so good at what they do. I loved it so much I have it on DVD and I can’t wait for season 2.

There always need to be more kickass females on television. In the hole left behind by Buffy and Alias, I was excited to see another television taking that role on. I thought the first episode was good, but at the same time nothing too special. It seemed to resemble it’s source materials a bit too much, but thought the twist at the end was intriguing. Then, each episode got better and better, the material more and more serious, the stakes higher and higher, until we got that grand midseason finale which actually felt like a season finale. Can’t wait to see where the show goes from here.

Oh, show. I wish we’d had more time together. You pretty much ended and began in 2010. Battlestar Galctica was great and all, but I was so excited to see a show in that verse with more down to earth political, religious, and societal leanings. That’s what Caprica was supposed to be. It may have taken a while to find its footing, and a couple of missteps, but I still love everything the show was and everything it could have been. In it’s limited time it still covered so many things and the second half of the season was so good episode after episode. I’ll miss it.

I read the first two books earlier in the year, and then had to wait a couple months for the third and final to be released. I can’t wait to see this series turned into a movie and am eager to watch it all unfold in 2011. If done right it could be grand. This book is so good for a young adult novel in that it takes so many themes and ideas that were introduced in the first two and takes it to that next level. Most people will say the first is their favorite, but I’m going to have to go with this book. The first two are good books, but the last one is a great novel.

I’m so sad I missed reading this one when it was released as I would have loved to talk about it with other people. As it happens, this book actually fit in perfectly with other things I was reading/watching at the time like Dollhouse, Caprica, etc. on the nature of identity and the soul. And it’s another topic I’m interested in, what makes a person? Can two people fall in love with the same body, but two different beings? And yes, Stephenie Meyer gets a lot of slack for her writing and the Twilight series, but this and Midnight Sun are actually not that bad. So ‘not bad’ in fact that Andrew Niccol (Gattaca) is supposed to be making the movie. So excited about this movie, now if only they’d get the time and their asses in gear…

In the year 2020, Echo and the few surviving Dollhouse staff struggle to restore mankind after the devastating events seen in the unaired first season episode, "Epitaph."

I didn’t love Dollhouse as much as I wished I did, but there are key episodes that stand out from the show. The conclusion and last we see of these characters is included in my list. I also wanted to do a scene from this episode when Echo is mourning Paul for my favorite scenes of 2010, but couldn’t find a clip on YouTube. Blast. Best acting by Eliza ever, I think.

When the sole survivor of a building demolished by an earthquake in downtown Manhattan proves to be from the other Earth, Walter leads the team to Jacksonville, the source of a related experiment that he and William conducted years ago.

I loved that in this episode we see the two worlds start to merge, the realization of little Olivia being a test subject, Olivia and Peter getting closer, only to be broken by her finally controlling her power, then the reveal to her of Peter being from the other side.

Stefan helps Elena and Bonnie out of a dangerous situation. When Stefan, Damon and Elena work with Bonnie and Grams to open the tomb, everyone is shocked by what they discover.

We spent the whole season with Damon trying to find Katherine only to discover she’s not in the cave and never cared about him. Then, there’s Stefan getting himself trapped in the cave for Elena. Grams helping Bonnie to open and seal it. Elena hugging Damon and saying he’s sorry. And then the death of Grams.

Joseph Adama reaches out to his son, while his daughter Tamara finds a new side of the virtual world. Daniel suggests a product for Graystone Industries.

This is the first really interesting episode of the series as well follow Tamara in V world and there’s a lot of interesting imagery. Then, finally the character really comes into her own as a badass toting a gun.

Amanda fears for her sanity while Daniel and Joseph close in on their daughters.

I love this episode for the scenes between Lacy and Zoe as she promises she won’t fail her. Then the scenes of Zoe explaining how to make robots with their own identity. Then, lastly Daniel speaking to the robot as Zoe.

Walter remembers the events in 1985 to Olivia, including how Peter ended up where he is today.

This episode was on numerous tops of 2010 lists and with good reason. We finally get to see how Peter came over to our world, what’s the deal with the Observers, and the result of Walter’s decision.

Stefan and Damon make a new enemy, which puts Stefan in a dangerous situation. Meanwhile, Caroline’s car breaks down leading her to a terrible discovery that shocks everyone in Mystic Falls.

I love episodes with Stefan, Elena, and Damon working together. Plus, ramping up the drama with Stefan being kidnapped and I am so there. Character’s in danger always get good material. And Stefan drinking Elena’s blood at the end prepares us for the rest of the season’s arc.

Sherlock Holmes is introduced to ex-army doctor John Watson who he then convinces to help him solve murder mysteries. Their first case together is one that looks, to police, like a case of linked suicides.

This is the episode that started the Sherlock series obsession. Love the story, love the characters, love the one-liners. The other two episodes just can’t beat this one.

Caroline, feeling confused and desperate, joins her friends at the Mystic Falls Carnival after being released from the hospital.

I love this episode so much. Single-handedly takes Caroline from normal teenager to BAMF. Her transition is amazing to watch. The fact she gets to beat up on Damon. Bonnie taking her revenge out on Damon. Stefan helping out Caroline was so sweet. And the ending with Stefan and Elena as they remind each other, they can’t forget to live.

Zoe, believing that Tamara holds the key to a higher purpose, seeks the girl known to New Cap City as The Death walker in the most dangerous places.

There was some gorgeous imagery in this episode. Zoe, little Zoe, Zoe and robot/avatar Zoe. We see how she designed the Cylons. Her finally teaming up with Tamara. I’d love to read more from BSG fans and see what it all meant. A big mind fuck episode.

Despite Elena’s efforts to keep Jeremy safe, he offers to help Damon and Alaric deal with Katherine. Bonnie accidentally discovers new information about Mason and shares it with Stefan, leading Damon to take matters into his own hands.

So much goodness in this episode, too. This is why I have so many episodes from this show. I loved Elena and Stefan being cutesy. Bonnie finally helps them out and questionably tricks Mason into the hands of Damon who tortures him and rips out his heart. Elena saving poor Stefan in the well. Caroline compelling her mother to forget everything to save her friends. Katherine compelling Jenna and then Matt. And Stefan and Elena breaking up for the good of everyone. Wow.

En route to a training exercise, a bus filled with Division recruits, including Alex and Thom, is attacked by terrorists.

I love Alex more than any of the other characters, but I think most will agree that this was the most exciting episode so far. Being held captive, thinking Thom is dead, escaping from Division, calling Nikita, and then being taken back Michael. Plus, the Michael/Alex moments were rampant this episode.

Damon and Stefan devise a new plan to deal with Katherine at the Lockwood’s masquerade ball. Bonnie, Alaric, and Jeremy do their best to help Stefan and Damon with their plan, but Katherine has a surprise that none of them expected.

I watched this episode with my girlfriends and it was a pretty exciting ride. I thought someone was going to die the whole way through. I loved seeing Katherine in action, killing a girl on the dance floor, playing coy with Stefan and Damon, Elena being hurt everytime she’s attacked. Then, there’s Katherine finally being locked away in the cave where she still remains.

Elena is put in peril when as she searches for information about Katherine’s past. Knowing that Stefan would disagree with her plan, Elena swears Caroline to secrecy.

I always love flashback episodes and this one is no exception. We finally get a look into Katherine’s past and understand how she became a vampire and the deal with the whole curse. I also loved the scene at the end with Elena crying to Stefan and admitting everyone in her life is in danger not because of him but because of her.

Alisha is surprised to find out that the mysterious masked man is not affected by her power when he rescues her from a mugging and decides to find out more about him.

This episode single-handedly doubled the number of fans for the show. All season there’s been a masked character at work, and now the big reveal and the payoff is huge. Love it, love it.

The gang reaches fame and fortune as super-heroes called the ‘ASBO Five’ after the existence of super-powers becomes widely known. However, soon the gang is in deep trouble when a killer with a bizarre power of his own targets them.

I had to include this episode because it kept me on the edge of my seat. The reveal, the deaths, the musical moments. There were so many good moments and so many references to earlier episodes. I love the way everything connects together on this show.

The music choices in Misfits are already beautiful enough, but then they get Beetroot to do the instrumentals and it’s even better. I love this scene because it’s so tragic for Simon to find everyone he loves dead. And then to make that final transformation to become his future self.

On the whole this movie was very moving to me. But the end, as Tyler says goodbye to his friends while he goes out for the day, finally makes peace inside with his father, and then we pull out…

The whole first half of the first season we’re left wondering what’s the deal with Elena and why does she look like Katherine. Finally, Stefan reveals she was adopted. But that’s not all, he was also there when her parents died and he saved her. And then he finally admits how much he loves her and the difference between her and Katherine.

I love this scene because we finally get Cate, Baze, and Lux in a room together hashing all of their past out. They all think they’re working things out, but now they realize they still have a long way to go. Every time I watch this it makes me tear.

The moment us fans have been waiting for and my favorite chapter of the books. Plus, I love the way the music crescendos just as she leaps into his arms. So beautiful.

I love that we get to see Stefan go crazy from the blood. Elena is strong in what she needs to do. And Elena and Damon work together to help him. Damon is so sweet staying behind to wait with her.

After watching and loving the series, I was saddened and surprised to see it end on a cliffhanger. It’s like, wait that’s it? I have to wait a year? Gimme more. I also love the final reveal of Moriarty. And the way despite what Sherlock says about not caring about people and living for the work, there’s still a difference between him and Sherlock. He does have a heart. He can care about people, and it begins with Watson.

OMG, this scene. Of course it breaks my heart as a fan of Elena/Stefan, but the acting and their crying are perfection. Then, I always love it when Damon gets included in a scene between the two of them. The look on his face after seeing her crying is also heartbreaking.

Again, with the Beetroot music making a scene. The whole time watching this scene I spent it with my mouth dropped open and couldn’t believe the reveal was happening in this way. I loved the mood, the music, and everything of this scene.

I was not expecting this scene when watching the episode at all. I mean, who would’ve thought? But it was so hot, sensual, and sweet. And the after sex talk? *gush* And Foal – Spanish Sahara just makes it all even better.

Somehow I think we all felt it coming. We got one episode of future!Simon and bliss, then it all hearbreakingly ended. What can be worse than having to set the man you love’s body on fire? And again, the music and they lyrics works so well with the scene. This time Massive Attack – Paradise Circus

Elena made a deal with Elijah to get Stefan out of the cave, but I didn’t expect him to turn up at her place. But then the excitement as they saw each other, the kisses, the making out. It reminded me of the first season when she saw him outside her window. You have no idea how sweet and how giddy the whole scene made me. Back together, baby!

Undoubtedly the best part of the movie Kick-Ass. Yes, a girl that young should probably not be saying, or doing for that matter, any of the things in the movie. But that’s the point, she’s not normal, her daddy’s raised her as a superhero. And she just happens to be good and look badass doing it. I know I’m not the only one who would be excited to see a movie just on Hit-Girl.

He can be so crazy eccentric, but he’s also crazy deductive. Not smart necessarily, mind you. Just able to connect the dots. I love this version of Sherlock Holmes and the way he lives for his work and balances on the edge of letting it drag him under. I love that Watson is his ‘human credential’ and helps him to remain connected to the world.

Truth be told, I love all the female characters in Caprica from Zoe to Tamara to Amanda to Clarice. For some reason though, I love Lacy the most. She starts the series as a school girl and Zoe’s friend who is unable to go through with their agenda and get on the train, consequently surviving the explosion and goes onto help Avatar Zoe. From there she gets involved in some bad stuff with Barnabus and Clarice, but eventually learns to stand up for what she believes in. I loved watching her grow into this strong character who eventually becomes the Blessed Mother.

I almost forgot about my favorite female character of the year. I find Alex’s mixture of a haunted average girl with a badass interior very intriguing. Her parents were murdered, she has a past with drugs and sex, but she’s learned so much from Nikita and is rising above all that. She’s also willing to do whatever it takes for her mission, but she still has a problem pulling that final trigger. This fact makes it easier to relate to her. With everything that went down in the midseason finale, I can’t wait to see what’s next.

It’s crazy how this series and this character snuck up on me at the end of this year. No doubt smarter than any of the other Misfits, he’s also already accepted his powers and his destiny. Someone on Tumblr described him as "part Clark Kent, part Donnie Darko, and one hundred percent the classic self-sacrificing hero". I loved him in the first season already, but now it’s all been kicked up in the second season. We get to witness his character growing from the shy unloved present Simon into his strong confident future self, a "proper superhero".

I love watching the give and take, the push and pull of their relationship, but how still neither one of them is complete without the other. I’ll always love book!Edward+Bella more, but I love seeing them visually represented in the movies. This year we finally got understanding between the two on what each of them wants and needs, the Edward/Bella/Jacob love triangle is over (good riddance) and the marriage proposal is finally accepted. Next year, the wedding!

Nope, still not hopping on that crazy Elena+Damon train. Each week I see less how they could ever go that route truthfully without committing character assassination. Sometimes I think the writers will eventually take Elena the Damon way, but then other times I think they’re just using it all as a means of character growth for Damon. Despite all the overwhelming odds against them, I love that this couple has remained so stable. This year we got the discovery of Elena being adopted, how Stefan loved her before they even met, the trials of his past and blood lust, her supporting him by giving him her own blood, the introduction of Katherine and the toll she took on their relationship, their breakup and them getting back together.

I fell for these two hard these last two months of the year. They’re relationship is so beautiful, tragic, otherworldly, and interesting. The pretty girl who can’t touch anyone and doesn’t want it and the shy awkward guy who has accepted his destiny. His future self who comes back to tell her they’ll get together. The tragedy as they each have to witness each other dieing. She falls in love with the future self quickly, while having to wait patiently for the present self to catch up.

I started watching Misfits late this year to see what all the talk was about and am so glad I did. The whole cast is talented, but Iwan really got lucky to be able to play such an interesting and complex character in Simon. To be able to play so many variations and aspects of his character, and do it well, fascinated me. Plus, he’s so adorkable in real life.

Part haunting, part epic, part soulful. Yes, technically her debut album was released last year, but it seems she’s been discovered this year. Plus, for those fans greedy for anything extra from her, the Twilight: Eclipse soundtrack this year also included the awesome new song, ‘Heavy In Your Arms’. I can’t wait to hear more beautiful music.

I went to see Bobby Long in concert at The Troubadour this summer and discovered an amazing new opening act. Trouble Over Tokyo is just Toph Taylor with his Mac computer onstage, the songs he composed, and his beautiful voice. The music was powerful, his performance emotional, and we all walked away new fans. I just bought his new CD last week, so that’ll have to wait til next year.

I know Taylor Momsen gets a lot of criticism, and maybe I don’t like some of the things she does, but for some reason I still like her. Even more so, I like her music. It’s her band’s debut CD, and I think they’d probably still have gotten recognized even if it wasn’t for her. She has a beautiful gritty voice and we need more chicks in rock. Plus, the use of ‘Make Me Wanna Die’ in the Vampire Diaries promo brought me onto them.

Their new CD actually came out last year, but since it was different than their previous efforts, I didn’t really give it a proper listen. This year it ruled my iPod. I actually love it more than their previous works. It’s bigger, better, more emotional, more thought provoking. Plus, I love how they involve their fans in every part of everything they do. I’m going to see them for the first time in January. I can’t wait!
